Artist Statement:
My work is all centered in sexuality, including gender and it’s expression and the limitlessness and ever growing concept of what that means to art, therefore beauty and inevitably humanity. All art is, is an expression of the artists consciousness and therein what they find beautiful in the broadest meaning of the word. Being a nonbinary and queer person for me gives me the most comprehensive conception of beauty beyond what gender and any binary can contain.
So as I was commissioned for this, I had other ideas in mind, but HOME just kept meaning to me reflection of my self. This whole experience of not really being able to go anywhere became this opportunity to be introspective and home simply turned into the corporeal. These self portraits were painted in a space surrounded by myself, one on a day that I would consider a high and the other on a day where I was feeling much lower. Appreciating and accepting the beauty of either, them being completely transparent, but separated by what’s in the middle representing my imperfect flesh, held delicately within a frame, suspending by something much heavier than anything it contains.
