BY AND FOR COMMUNITY

Gender Unbound’s leadership and the artists we feature are all trans and intersex, and we encourage trans and intersex participation in all levels of our organization including our volunteers and contractors.

AFFIRMING ART EVENTS

Gender Unbound creates artistic events that celebrate trans and intersex people, promoting intra-community pride and resilience. These events affirm trans and intersex people through positive imagery and narratives created in a variety of mediums by talented artists from their own communities. In addition, we use community partnerships to connect attendees to valuable resources that promote mental, physical, social, and sexual health of trans and intersex people and that help trans and intersex people safely exercise their rights and autonomy in our society.

SUPPORTING TRANS AND INTERSEX ARTISTS

Gender Unbound pays trans and intersex artists and provides them access to an engaged, supportive community so they can further their craft and voice. We believe in intersectional representation, and ensure that the art and narratives we showcase include people who are often marginalized within trans and intersex communities including, but not limited to, nonbinary people, people of color, immigrants, non-English speakers, sex workers, and people of non-Christian faiths.

ACCESSIBLE EDUCATION

Through the arts, Gender Unbound can provide public access to trans and intersex communities at our best, displaying positive and nuanced visibility. Through our artists, speakers, printed materials, and events, we educate the general public on the identities, experiences, and issues of trans and intersex people in an engaging and accessible way.
