They/them, he/him.

Clark Woods is a non-binary Cyborg, based between Chicago and Oklahoma City. Currently attending the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Clark’s work deals mostly in ideas of gender and technology, and works completely in New Media, Video art, and Performance. The mediums they engage with are technologies of the old and new (vhs cameras, the internet, 3D software), while also combining with performance, usually motifs of dance and drag.

“This is Not My Home, and Yet I Live Here” by Clark Woods

One piece, unframed.

18 x 32 inch (h x w)
3D Rendered Image on Paper

Artist Statement:

My art in medium is a blend of film/video/new media/tech/ & performance, and in subject it is about gender/queerness/cyborgism/virtual space/camp/humor/cinema/ & performance(again).

This piece is a work in 3D, but I also consider the piece a performance, as it is a self portrait, and it is playing in both the Real and the Unreal.
Home is a very subjective place, and currently i have not felt at home (despite being in a home and with family). Yet a family who doesn’t see me for who I am, or respect me as I am, and therefore it is not a place I can not truly consider home. Hence the title, and the piece itself.
