Trans and Intersex Ceramics Night
Wednesday, July 24th, 2024, 6 PM at Round Rock Community Clay
900 Round Rock Ave Suite 310, Round Rock, TX 78681
Ready to get your hands dirty?
Gender Unbound is hosting a one-night ceramics workshop for our trans and intersex community to play with clay! Bella Legosi, a local trans ceramics instructor, will guide us in crafting and decorating our own unique hand-built mugs. All clay, materials, and supplies will be provided, and kiln firing and glazes are all included with the ticket.
Bella will be delving into the exciting technique of slab building in this all trans and intersex community class. She’ll guide us through all the steps of crafting a hand-built mug, including attaching a handle and implementing strategies to refine and decorate the surface of your mug. Resulting creations will be functional, food safe, and unique to you.
No ceramics experience is required. With our open-ended format, complete beginners will be shown all the basics, while more intermediate and advanced artisans will have room to stretch and add your own flair.
Firing will be completed by Round Rock Community Clay and the finished pieces will be ready to pick up in around 4 weeks.
Sliding Scale Tickets
We are offering this workshop with sliding-scale ticket pricing. An at-cost ticket is $40; our sliding scale ranges from $25 to $60. We ask that you consider your unique and complex financial situation when selecting a ticket price. Sliding scale is not about getting a good deal.
“When I pay more on a sliding scale, I know that I am helping others to access this event. When I pay in the middle, I know I am helping support the event organizers. And when I pay at the bottom, I know I am letting my community hold me and support me. All of these are wonderful and acceptable ways of accessing services.”
Am I trans or intersex enough to attend?
Reminder: this will be a trans and intersex space. We consider the intersex umbrella to include anyone born with any of a range of body variations that do not fall into typical binary gender expectations. We consider the transgender umbrella to include anyone who does not identify with the gender they were assigned at birth, including nonbinary, agender, gender fluid, third gender, and two spirit people.
If you are an ally, friend, or family member to trans and intersex people, you can donate without purchasing a ticket or become a monthly sustainer.
